Anonymous Grading Feature

Canvas supports anonymous grading of assignments, quizzes, and papers.

 Canvas supports anonymous grading of assignments, quizzes, and papers.

You must first activate the Anonymous Grading setting at the course level. Be sure to change this setting in all courses where you plan to use this feature.

On the Course Navigation menu, click Settings [1]. Select the Feature Options tab [2] at the top and select the Anonymous Grading feature [3].

By default, all feature states are initially set to Disabled. To turn on any feature, click on the (x) in the State field and select Enabled in the drop-down menu. This will change the (x) to a (✔︎).

With Anonymous Grading enabled, you will now see Student 1, Student 2, etc., instead of student names when using SpeedGrader to grade an assignment, discussion, or quiz,

You can also apply Anonymous Grading on an assignment by assignment basis.

Go to the assignment and open SpeedGrader to grade it. When in SpeedGrader, click on the gear icon [1] in the top left corner, then select Options [2].

A SpeedGrader options box opens; check the box to Hide student names in the SpeedGrader.

You will now see Student 1, Student 2, etc., instead of student names.
