Resources and Tools

This page provides TEP-produced tools, UO-licensed programs available to you, and University of Oregon and other national and international resources to help you follow the conversation around AI and teaching.

Teaching Engagement Program Tools

Built by TEP, for direct use in your teaching

AI Course Readiness Self-Check

A short, interactive quiz that maps your course across three stances and three readiness zones. Get tailored feedback, download your responses, and schedule a TEP consultation if you'd like to talk it through.

Take the Self-Check

AI-Aware Assignment Template (Word)

A TILT-informed template for communicating purpose, task, and AI expectations.

AI Assignment Testing Guide (Word)

A prompting document for testing your assignments against AI.

Student Metacognition Guide

A student-facing guide that encourages intentional pauses before reaching for AI.

UO Licensed Tools

Available to you through campus agreements

The University of Oregon provides access to several tools with AI features built in.

Microsoft Copilot Chat with Data Protection

Microsoft Copilot Chat (web-based) with data protection. Log in with your Duck ID at copilot.microsoft.com, or install the app for iOS or Android. When you sign in with your UO account, Enterprise Data Protection applies automatically. Prompts and responses stay inside UO's Microsoft tenant, are encrypted, and aren't used to train Microsoft's models or shared outside UO. This covers both Copilot Chat and licensed Microsoft 365 Copilot.

Zoom AI Companion

Built-in AI assistant. Summarize meetings, flag action items, and more.

  • Data terms: UO's enterprise agreement with Zoom includes contractual data terms similar to our Microsoft agreement. Zoom and its partners cannot use our content to train Zoom's or any third party's AI models. This is a flat prohibition rather than an opt-out, and it holds even though AI Companion routes some tasks to outside models.
  • Practical guidance: Treat an AI-summarized meeting the same as a recorded one. If a conversation is sensitive, leave AI Companion off.

Gradescope

Software for efficiently grading student work, especially handwritten assessments.

Collaborative Annotation Tools

UO licenses two tools, Perusall and Hypothesis, that make reading visible and social. Students engage with readings, instructors, and one another.

Respondus Lockdown Browser

A locked browser for in-class Canvas exams. It keeps students from opening other programs or websites while they take the exam.
