Faculty voices are central to how UO thinks about AI in teaching. TEP works through communities of practice: spaces where faculty actively participate, learn from each other, and improve each other's teaching through scholarship, research, assignment redesign, and more.
AY 2026–27 will be organized around the Year of AI. Teaching Triangles and CAITs are two of TEP's existing communities of practice, and both are taking on an AI focus for the 2026–27 academic year.
Two Ways to Participate
Teaching Triangles
Three faculty work together for a term around their teaching, giving each other real feedback on assignment redesign.
Last year: 75 Core Ed faculty redesigned at least one assignment apiece in Winter–Spring 2026, in partnership with UO Libraries and UO Online.
This year: 2026–27
A stipended community of practice to update assignments. A new cohort launches in Winter 2027 as part of the Year of AI.
Application form coming soon.
CAITs
Small groups that tackle compelling problems through both a pedagogical and an institutional change lens.
Last year: GenAI Educational Research CAIT conducted two studies and shared the findings with UO community.
This year: 2026–27
Stipended communities of practice to:
- Define AI Literacy & Competency for UO students
- Unit-Level Supports
- Continue research into UO students' experiences
- Writing in the Age of AI (led by UO Composition Program)
Details and application forms coming soon.
