Online Stipend Course Development Criteria

Online Stipend Course Development Criteria

Overview

UO Online offers funding and dedicated instructional support to help faculty develop new fully asyncronous online courses and redesign existing ones. Our stipend program supports faculty working closely with an Instructional Designer to create or significantly update asyncronous online courses. Stipend stipulations:

  1. Unit head approval and demonstration of meeting specific strategic student success needs for the unit.*
  2. Department confirms the course will be offered online at least once per academic year for the next three years.
  3. UO Online confirms that no prior stipend support has been provided for the course, unless a substantial redesign is clearly needed.
  4. Teaching faculty completes an initial consultation with UO Online to determine the scope of the new development or redesign.

For #1 see these resource pages for more detailed information about what UO Online considers in terms of a unit’s strategic planning:

Teaching faculty approved for stipend support collaborate regularly with an Instructional Designer throughout the design process and complete a course review prior to launch.

*Faculty developing online courses within the College of Arts and Sciences(CAS) and the School of Law, additional unit-level approval processes may be required before an online course can be offered. These internal processes occur prior to UO Online’s stipend-supported course development. Please consult with your unit head to confirm the requirements and timeline.
