Ungrading: Assignment Design Strategies
Ungrading is an approach that decenters assigning a grade to student work and focuses instead on providing feedback and support for students’ learning processes. In this workshop we’ll discuss various assignment and assessment options for implementing an ungrading approach. Then we’ll collaborate in designing new course assignments or converting existing assignments to an ungrading format. We’ll also discuss ways to provide feedback to students and consider different ideas for how to frame ungrading for students and establish expectations for how it works.
This workshop builds on the Ungrading: Strategies and Insights session offered in winter term. Visit that session’s event page to access a video of it, along with materials shared by faculty panelists.
