Teaching amidst Crisis: Foundations of Trauma-informed Pedagogy

  • 16 November 2021
  • Zoom
  • Event Host: TEP
  • Event Type: Workshop

This virtual workshop led by Anita Chari, Associate Professor of Political Science and Provost's Teaching Fellow, introduces participants to the foundational practices of embodied, trauma-informed pedagogies. The workshop will support you to create connection and embodied presence in the classroom in a period of multiple and ongoing crises. The pandemic has exacerbated profound social inequalities and injustices, and the result is an increase in anxiety, stress, and burnout among students, faculty, and staff as we return to in-class instruction. This workshop will address trauma and overwhelm with practices that you can begin to use in your classroom and in your life immediately.

You will learn:

  • The foundational practices of the paradigm of trauma informed pedagogy.
  • Why we need it now in our classrooms to support both students and professors.
  • Simple and effective tools for beginning to incorporate this paradigm into your curriculum.
