Pandemic discussion experiences: what worked, & how to represent it on the academic job market (for GEs)
While we are no longer teaching remotely, the skills and strategies we used in discussion sections over the last years changed how we lead discussions. What strategies did we use to create remote discussions that also make our in-person discussions engaged and purposeful? How can we communicate about these experiences and practices as we enter the job market?
This GE-specific session will reflect on some of the new and effective discussion strategies we learned during the pandemic—strategies that also translate to in-person teaching. This session will also support GEs in identifying skillsets we’ve used in remote teaching that can apply to and be articulated for jobs beyond UO. This session will pull from the experience of participants and will be co-facilitated by Jayne Cole, GE instructor in the History of Art and Architecture.
