Discussion Strategies for GE Instructors

Learn strategies for creating lively and fruitful conversations that help students build critical thinking skills, collaborate in collective inquiry, and develop constructive and respectful ways to disagree.  We will identify key "dispositions" for more productive discussions, explore questions and prompts that build these skills, review various discussion activities, and consider strategies for addressing common problems that arise in class discussions. This session will focus on in-person classroom teaching and will most help discussion section leaders and GE instructors wanting to include more class discussion in their courses.
