Conducting Educational Research with Human Subjects: Getting Started with IRB
Are you interested in studying your own teaching or students’ learning, but unsure how to navigate human subjects review? The Teaching Engagement Program (TEP) invites you to the next meeting of the Educational Research in Action Group, featuring Kayla Champaigne, Assistant Director of Research Compliance Services.
This online session will introduce the basics of educational research with human participants and walk through the UO Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, including:
- What counts as human subjects research
- How to tell if your project is exempt or non-exempt
- Key elements of informed consent and participant protections
- Practical tips for preparing and submitting an IRB protocol
