Knowing about AI and knowing how to use it are different skills. AI literacy is “a foundational conceptual understanding of AI,” focused on “knowledge, critical thinking, and ethical awareness” (Chiu 2025). AI competency is the technical skill to use AI well. Hear how colleagues are teaching both: building the literacy that protects students’ critical thinking, and the competency to use AI effectively and responsibly. Panelists also will address how individual teaching practices might scale to more unit-level or systematic approaches.
